Wow Ren had the absolute control of this battle. I liked that they didn't repeat the "oh no I'm gonna lose, I'm not strong" plot for this battle. Even though Flame manages those scenes better than first season did, it would've been so boring to see that for the third time after Tsubasa and Shion. But! This time it was her who motivated Raido!! And it was so sweet too!! I wonder if the antagonist (forgot his name lol) now sees Ren under a different light since he didn't want to battle Raido bc he's strong. I'm curious.

Now the mirror matches have finished finally and hopefully we'll see more of Subaru's backstory during the next episode(s) :)

followers vs. followers! it's basically like classic yugioh beatdown matches in its earlier days, just monsters vs. monsters with some helpful spells supporting them.

soooooooooooo many iconic SV cards showcased here, courtesy of sword having quite a lot of both cool-looking and good-gameplay cards alrdy during the early days of SV. Frontguard General, Fangblade Slayer, Albert, even a lesser flashy card like Maid Leader who was the tutor card in the game for a long time.

that Enhance effect on Advancing Lord is BUSTED. sword right now plays more controlly since they kept having more of their strong Rally cards rotated out with no comparable replacement, so they can actually reach turn 9 safely, and often does. the PP recovery combined with his effect to give sword followers that enters play (so not just those played from your hand) Storm is recipe for some OTK shenanigans. in fact, there's alrdy a card that can easily fit that bill with Advancing Lord's enhance: Musketeers' Vow. I'm guessing the card's enhance effect might get nerfed when it enters the mobile game, but we'll see that in the future.

we get to see even more Hero followers from Ren's deck. that Wind-type hero definitely is the most interesting one thus far. the ability to allow a follower to attack twice is rare even today, and they are often limited into a follower's ability for themselves instead of being able to give it to another follower. really shows you how strong Cygames consider this type of ability is.

This battle was absolute bullshit! Another excuse to give the win to a female character over a male character! Raido was seen multiple times working harder than any of the other characters in the series, so it goes to say he should have beaten Ren to face Haruma and eventually get wrecked by Haruma, who is too strong o make for a good revenge scene for Light! But that didn't happen! Ren shouldn't be in any way stronger than her president who used to be on top of her in skills for a long time - don't tell me she closed the gap that soon! Nah, this is just typical shojo bullshit! At least I hope Subaru will kick the garden girl's ass in the next battle to pull a fair-fair trade on the next episode!

Dude, chill out, it was obvious that the main cast is going to full win there so the plot would move. They might do something with Light vs Haruma at the finals, but I guess Light will need a win there for their rematch.
